Welcome to MASTERLIZER Support

Is MASTERLIZER a professional mastering service?

Simply no. MASTERLIZER is a new approach for mastering your music online and can deliver amazing results very quickly at a fraction of the cost of traditional mastering. Judge for yourself how it sounds and experiment — the better the mix you upload the better the master will be.

How should I prepare my mixes and recordings for mastering to get the best sound?

  1. If you work in a DAW bounce the mix of your master output channel without applying any heavy compression or limiting plugins / processing.
  2. Make sure to leave enough headroom and that your audio file is not clipping. It should peak around -6dBFS.
  3. Edit in your song fades at the beginning and end of your song.

Fact: Already mastered or heavily compressed files will not sound better.

What are the upload limits for my audio files?

  • Maximum upload length per song is 15 minutes or 300 MB.
  • MP3, AAC, M4A, OGG longer than 15 minutes will not work regardless of their file size.
  • These limits also apply for SoundCloud imports.

Which audio file formats are accepted and what audio files do I get back?

  • MASTERLIZER accepts all major audio formats like WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC, M4A, OGG up to 48kHz and 32 bit.
  • For optimal sound quality upload uncompressed audio like WAV, AIFF or FLAC.
  • Compressed audio formats like MP3, AAC, M4A and OGG will also work but at the expense of audio quality.
  • You always get back CD-quality WAV at 44.1 kHz and 16 bit for download.

How does YouTube and SoundCloud export work?

  • You can master your file and share it directly to SoundCloud and YouTube, simply connect these accounts while logged in.
  • You can set export to private so only you can see the files. In YouTube you can find your private file in the Video Manager.
  • YouTube export will generate a movie out of your song with the MASTERLIZER logo, but you can also choose up to 5 of your own pictures during export to generate a personalized video.

What should I do if I experience crackling audio, the player does not work or responds slowly?

  • Make sure your internet connection is fast enough, we recommend an absolute minimum of 2 Mbit download speed.
  • Refresh the site if you have problems.
  • Clear the cache of your browser.

Which browsers work best with MASTERLIZER?

  • Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera and Edge. Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported.
  • For the best experience we recommend Google Chrome.

My upload speed is very slow what can I do?

  • Convert your WAV to the lossless audio format FLAC, it will save upload time by about 50% without losing any quality.
  • You can also convert your file to AAC or MP3 but you will lose some quality. Convert to the highest possible bitrate of 320 kbit/s if possible.

Will MASTERLIZER also work with podcast, voice and other audio?

At the moment MASTERLIZER is optimized for music but we encourage you to experiment with podcasts, voice recordings, soundtracks for movies, etc.
